Photography has always played an important part in my life. I lost my father at a very early age and much of what I know of him has been through photographs and stories from my family and his compatriots. Growing up in the Philippines, I voraciously read the National Geographic, Time and LIFE magazines from my family’s collection. Much of my early exposure to great photography has been through these publications. To me, photography is an adventure. It has been a link to my roots and to those that made me what I am today. Years ago I came across a quote that reflects what I feel about what I do as a photographer. It goes like this…. “Don’t let it be forgot. That once there was a moment. One brief shining moment, which will forever last.” I may have butchered the actual quote, however, this is what I hold true to my heart. It involves breathing life into a 2-dimensional image with just the right combination of elements that make “the” moment. It involves capturing and preserving the memories for the people who will appreciate and treasure them most. In reality, I’m not just a photographer – I am part historian, artist, record keeper, therapist, cheerleader, and memory maker all rolled into one. I began shooting professionally on a part-time basis in 2003 and full time ten years later. I’ve become known for my photographic works of life and activities around Livingston County through my involvement with The Community Theatre of Howell; Howell High School sports, Performing Arts and events; Howell Opera House; Howell Parks & Recreations and Howell Downtown Development Authority. I have been a stringer for the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus since 2011. As a family man, I enjoy photographing the cycle of life – from childhood, to high school seniors, to weddings, to family and pets. I hold memberships in both the Professional Photographers of America and the Livingston County Photographers Group.
